itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/CreativeWork\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Metis supports Walls for Water, an initiative by the Maputo Street Art collective in partnership with Fipag, the public water company. The project invites a group of young people to think about water issues through workshops combining civic reflection and artistic creativity.<\/p>\n<p>For two weeks, 60 pupils from two classes at the 1 de Junho primary school take part in 12 workshops on water, hygiene and the environment. They explore their neighbourhood to identify problems \u2013 uncut grass, stagnant water, uncollected waste \u2013 and come up with practical solutions. These messages are then transferred onto T-shirts and posters during a screen printing workshop, before being used as the basis for a mural.<\/p>\n<p>Ten children take part in the painting, taking full ownership of the work and transforming a public wall in FIPAG into a symbol of the right to water. The artistic direction is provided by muralist Ivan Muhambe, founder of the Maputo Street Art collective, accompanied by Manavetane, Minoria Maquina and Elton Mombe. Together, they guide the children so that each brushstroke tells a story of solidarity.<\/p>\n<p>The project culminates in a ceremony open to the community, with a guided tour of the mural, traditional Machopi music and dance.
