In Beitunia, in the West Bank, mural artist Fuad Alymani and high school girls paint monumental murals celebrating life and collective creativity: windows opening onto their dreams.

Water, a vital issue
In Beitunia, a growing town on the outskirts of Ramallah, access to water is a daily challenge. Dependence on Israeli companies, worn-out infrastructure and limited budgets have led to water shortages for residents. Against this backdrop, local initiatives are seeking to modernise the network and improve water management. Faced with political and economic uncertainty, their primary aim is to strengthen public service capabilities in order to guarantee a regular supply to the population.

monumental murals
Palestinian artist Fuad Alymani and fifteen students from the Beitunia Girls’ High School came together for three days of workshops to imagine the Palestine of their dreams: vibrant, open, without barriers.
Guided by the artist, the students sketched human and animal figures, symbols of harmony between inhabitants and nature. Neighbours were also invited to contribute ideas and feedback to fuel the creative process.
These exchanges gave rise to two monumental murals: one on the water tank towering 25 metres above the town, the other on the school’s outer wall, painted jointly by the artist and the students. Vibrant and colourful, they celebrate life, nature and collective creativity.
Their inauguration brought together residents, the municipality, partners from the water sector and institutional representatives, providing a space for dialogue and reflection on sustainable resource management and the role of art as a vehicle for connection and inspiration for the community.
