International
events

Metis takes part in major international events, whether dedicated to development or culture, to convey the ‘Arts & Development’ message.

Production of
audiovisual works

Metis oversees the production of educational materials (films, catalogues, exhibitions, etc.) to reach a variety of audiences, whether they are new to the subject or already involved.

Social media
engagement

A local photographer/videographer documents each Metis project. The Metis social networks animate and disseminate this rich and original material.

The Ocean Manifesto

As part of the Diapason Océan program, the Metis Fund published The Ocean Manifesto with curator Caroline Ha Thuc. This landmark publication brings together 70 artists from around the world, united by the belief that art’s power to inspire action is essential to protecting the oceans.

More than one hundred artists were interviewed for this project, each offering valuable perspectives that deserved to be heard. This digital companion gives them the space they deserve.

JUL. 2025 | Dispositif de mobilité Metis

Mobilité Rwanda > République Démocratique du Congo

In July 2025, artists Ezéchiel Dohoungue and Stéphane Aremon led a month of dance and collective creation workshops in collaboration with Dareel Longundu in Bukavu (DRC). Children, mothers, and local dancers participated in the development of several scenes presented during a warmly received performance.

Metis at the Dakar biennale

The Metis fund took part in the OFF of the 15th edition of the Dakar Biennale with the organisation of its first exhibition, ‘Faire lieu: L’art en espace’, in close collaboration with five internationally renowned artists from the continent. All of whom have set up unique cultural spaces in their own countries.

In keeping with the theme of ‘Faire lieu’, 60 young people from the Grand Yoff added their voices to the creative effervescence of the Biennale by taking part in art workshops.

Pricilla Martinez, muralist

‘The Art of Change’ tells the story of talented artists who are attempting and succeeding in transforming the societies of their countries of origin. Defending ecosystems, fighting violence, school drop-out rates and insecurity…

In this episode, Fond Metis takes Hugo Koffi (from the Le Tatou collective) to meet Priscilla Martinez, a muralist who has helped transform a landfill site into an urban park, working closely with local residents.

Film awarded at the Green Awards Festival in Deauville – 18,000 views.

Oct. 2023 | International meetings

The “Arts and Development” coalition at the FICS

The FiCS (Finance in common) network brings together all the national and international development banks. At its annual summit in Cartagena (Colombia) in 2023, Metis promoted the creation of an Arts & Development coalition between 7 public development banks. The aim of this coalition is to strengthen their understanding of the potential of culture and the arts in relation to development issues, and to enhance dedicated operations. The coalition is set to grow each year more and more.

‘The art of change’ catalogue showcases the work of artists from all over the world. What do they have in common? They have all participated in a project supported by the Metis Fund or have been recommended by Metis artists. Metis artists and the Mobility program

Discover the first video illustrating the Metis Mobility Program! In May 2023, Togolese singer YaoBobby and French visual artist Jules Pennel, two artists committed to their respective countries, met for a month in Pantin. Working with children from a cultural centre, they organised artistic workshops on issues of identity and sustainability.
